The Hospital started in 1977 by Dr. (cap) Mangtoo Ram, giving the services to the people of Bihar, in the field of ophthalmology for last 35 years. Lasers- Yag laser is used primarily for posterior capsulotomy, iridotomy and YAG vitreolysis. The main benefits of this are non-surgical cutting of tissues. Bilas netralaya was first in Bihar to install the YC-1600 model yag laser. The green laser is useful for retinal condition, like diabetic retinopathy, branch vein occlusion, CSR. The main benefits of this are prevention of loss of vision due to retinal complications of several diseases. Diagnostic tools-- Perimetry or field charting is a diagnostic procedure, for evaluation of loss of vision of vision in particular areas of the field of vision, which may ocular in glaucoma, optic nerve disease, brain tumors etc. Computerized perimetry allows for accurate and repeatable assessment opf the visual field. FUNDUS photography and fluorescein angiography are important tools for the retina diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy and other conditions of the eye. A high-resolution imaging system with 3-D viewing provides unparalleled photograph of the retina to aid the treatment of the diseases, and resolution of the retinal image, the more accurately. Bilas netralaya has recently acquired the first 6-megapixal camera system and 3 D viewing facility which is 1st in eastern India. Telemedicine- Bilas netralaya offers telemedicine facilitiy for cross consultation with specialists and hospital across the country & globe. Squint clinic- The center offers all facilities for squint correction including surgery and exercise on a synoptophore. Artificial eye- This specialized field requires a skillful combination of art and science to offer cosmetic benefit to deformed eyes.
